Pensé et écrit par les membres de l’INA grm (Groupe de Recherches Musicales de l’Institut National de l’Audiovisuel), porté par une expérience de plus de cinquante ans dans la diffusion et la présentation en concert des musiques électroacoustiques, le Manuel de l’acousmonium propose de manière synthétique d’explorer les enjeux, les techniques et les méthodes applicables à la diffusion acousmatique et à la spatialisation sonore.
Ce manuel donne de nombreuses clés pour concevoir un système multiphonique de diffusion sonore de type acousmonium (orchestre de haut-parleurs) et aborde, pas à pas, toutes les étapes du concert acousmatique, depuis le montage du système jusqu’à la diffusion des œuvres.
Partant du constat que la présentation des musiques expérimentales en situation de concert est encore trop souvent soumise aux contingences et aux infrastructures traditionnelles, ce manuel propose également des outils conceptuels et pratiques applicables à des contextes et des dispositifs variés afin de conduire l’expérience du concert au plus près de l’écoute.

Conceived and written by members of INA grm (Groupe de Recherches Musicales de l’Institut National de l’Audiovisuel), drawing on more than fifty years of experience in diffusing and presenting electroacoustic music in concert, the Acousmonium Handbook offers a synthetic exploration of the issues, techniques and methods applicable to acousmatic diffusion and sound spatialisation.
As a manual, it provides numerous keys to designing a multiphonic sound diffusion system of the acousmonium type (loudspeaker orchestra) and addresses, step by step, all the stages of an acousmatic concert, from setting up the system to the diffusion of the works.
Based on the observation that experimental music is still too often subject to traditional infrastructures and contingencies in concert settings, the handbook offers conceptual and practical guidance adaptable to a variety of contexts and systems in order to bring together as close as possible the concert experience and the act of listening.
